Summary: Chinen loves Pocky above all things. Will he also learn to love someone else?
“Hey, Classmates! We’ll have a new classmate! And it’s a girl!” one guy exclaimed as he came running inside the classroom.
Girls are rare in Sekai Gakuen, so the guy students really are happy with the news. Especially that Class III-C is all boys.
“REALLY?! OH YEAH BABEH!”
The whole class went in uproar except for Chinen Yuuri who is silently sitting on his chair, busy eating his beloved pocky.
The whole class was filled with noise. Excitement filled all the boys in III-C, until, the teacher came in.
“CLASS! LISTEN!” the teacher yelled as he banged his hand on the desk, making the students go back to their seats silently. “Class, You’ll have a new classmate. She’s a girl so please respect her, okay?” the teacher stated with a grin on his face.
“Of course! We’re gentlemens after all.”
The class was filled with chatters again, until, the teacher banged his fist to the desk, making them silent.
When everyone became silent, the teacher said “Saruwatari-san, please come in”.
Everyone gave out silent giggles as the door carefully opened. They were astounded to see a tall girl about on her thirties came in.
“EEHHH?!?! IMPOSSIBLE! You look old for a high school student!” a student sitting in front blurted out.
Everyone agreed. Laughing like idiots.
The girl in front gave out a confused expression. ”What are you talking about?! I’m not the transferee student, ya know! I’m the new school nurse!”
The students sighed in relief.
”Then why are you here? This is not the clinic!” Chinen asked, still munching on his pocky.
”Eh..Uh…Yeah you’re right.” She giggled as she awkwardly went out of the room, leaving the students frustrated and clueless.
Excitement filled them again as the door opened again. Finally, a cute girl came in and stood in front of them with a sweet smile on her face, making the guys go noisy.
“WOW! JACKPOT! She’s very cute.” The boys exclaimed.
“Hi everyone. I am Saruwatari Yumiko, please take care of me.” She said as she bowed her head.
Everyone yelled in excitement, seeing a cute girl in front of them.
Suddenly, one student stood in his desk and exclaimed, “Hi Yumiko-chan, I’m Riku,the MOST HANDSOME guy in this class.”
“Huh?! Do you know what you’re talking about?!” one student who seemed to be in the kendo club questioned, scaring Riku with his well-builded body.
“Eheheh.. Sorry, just joking.” Riku said, obviously scared.
For the third time, the teacher banged his fist to the desk to make them silent again. “Saruwatari-san, you can sit there at the back.” The teacher said, pointing at the empty seat beside Chinen who is still busy with his Pocky.
Yumiko immediately obeyed.
Class ended. Yumiko noticed that Chinen is still sleeping on his desk so she decided to wake him up. Before she could ever do, Chinen’s eyes fluttered open, startling Yumiko.
“Hmmm? What are you doing Yumiko-chan?” he asked as he rubbed his eyes.
“Uh… I was about to wake you up but it seems that you’re already awake ne.” she responded.
“I see, I thought you’re going to steal my Pocky.” Chinen jokingly said as he let out a cute chuckle, making Yumiko’s heart beat fast. She just realized how cute he really is.
Yumiko giggled. “Don’t worry, I won’t ever do that”
She smiled as she locked her sight to Chinen, who is now walking his way out of the room. She admits it, he’s obviously the cutest guy she have ever met.
Suddenly, she started blushing. Her heart is beating fast.
“Am I in love?” she thought.
It was another bright day. Yumiko felt so sleepy as she listened at the teacher’s long and boring discussion. All of a sudden, as she stretched her arms wide, her elbow hit her eraser and it came tumbling at the floor. It rested under Chinen’s desk.
She hurriedly crawled under his desk and took it. As she was about to stand up, her head hit the desk.
“OUCH”
Chinen laughed as he looked at her suspiciously. “You’re really funny, ne.”
Yumiko blushed and started laughing at herself awkwardly. As she was about to stand up again, she hit her head again, now, harder than before.
“OUUUCCHHH!”
The next days became so frustrating for Yumiko. The boys were bothering her, flirting to be exact. It really is hard to be the only girl in the class.
“Hi Yumichin” Matsumura Shota, one of her classmates, greeted proudly, emphasizing the word Yumichin.
”Hi… uh…since when did my name became Yumichin?” Yumiku questioned, raising a brow.
Shota sighed and responded, “Of course, we’re best friends. I should have a special name to call you, right?” He sat on her desk and gave a wink.
”Wow, since when have we been best friends, huh? You’re so self-proclaimed.” Yumiko smirked as she looks at the side, avoiding eye-contact with him. There, a very cute vision outside the window took her attention. Chinen was there, sleeping peacefully under the tree in the school garden.
“How cute.” She suddenly muttered as she stared at Chinen thru the window.
”Of course I’m cute!” Shota suddenly exclaimed.
“I’m not talking about you, you know!” she immediately replied, rolling her eyes. Shota just pouted his lips in dismay.
Yumiko walked silently as she gets near to the sleeping boy. She carefully sat beside him, avoiding any sound. When she was settled, she stared at her beautiful long eyelashes, they were like sparkling. Without knowing it, her fingers unintentionally reached at his eyelashes and started brushing it softly.
Suddenly, Chinen’s eyes went open.
“Yumiko-chan? What are you doing?” he muttered, rubbing his eyes before looking at her directly.
Yumiko gulped and responded, “Uh… I’m here to… to…uhm….to steal your pocky???” She forced out a smile as she tilted her head a little.
Chinen stared at her for seconds,but later on, he giggled.
“You’re funny. Well, if you want my pocky that much… you can have it.” Chinen stated as he gave out a sweet smile and handed out his pocky.
Yumiko got mesmerized with his smile, so instead of reaching out for the pocky, she got hold of Chinen’s hands. She immediately pulledit out.
“Sorry…”
“You’re blushing…”
Yumiko hid her face as she heard what he just said. She’s now tomato red. She likes him after all.
“Yumiko-chan? Is something wrong?” Chinen asked.
Yumiko suddenly got silent and serious. She carefully faces him in the face and stared at him directly in the eye.
“Chinen-kun, I know that you like pocky above all things. But, I want you to know that…I like you.” Finally, those words came out from her mouth.
Chinen got shocked with her sudden confession. His cheeks started growing pale red.
“Yumiko-chan…I’m happy. Then, will you be my pocky?” he cutely asked, as he held her hands tightly.
“Eh? What do you mean?”
“Yumiko, the truth is every time I am with you, I always smile. Yumiiko… I like you too.” Chinen shyly responded as he then leaned closer and kissed her.
“I love you my pocky”
